Statement: Christianity which uses the bible as it’s foundation. Same bible, where God gave commandments on how to conduct slavery: Leviticus 25:44-46,Exodus 21. Luke 12:47-48. The bible that has ludicrous laws on rape Deuteronomy 22:28-29, and countless example where God sent his people to commit horrible violent genocides. I’m not dissing you for having faith because I have faith & the bible has beautiful righteous passages I was brought up to believe that the bible is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the righteous truth, but after reading passages like these I couldn’t follow blindly anymore my spirit and good sense didn’t allow me to. Keep faith & be righteous, just don’t have dump blind faith in the light of logic and good sense. There is NOTHING wrong with 2 men agreeing to none deadly regulated battle where a referee is there to protect them, that’s why it’s a sport.
Donald Bohanon: Are you a Muslim ? Because you sound like one when you try to take scripture completely out of context and make the Bible look like a flawed, error filled, contradicting compilation of books, and God look like a cruel and heartless God something they regularly do.As well as one other group specifically.
Homosexuals also regularly twist and distort the word of God with lies, distortions of the facts and truth, with vitriol. In a deceptive effort to make God look heartless and uncaring, but nothing could be further from the truth. Slavery was as much a part of society at that time as cars are today. That’s just how it was.
They were necessary to perform many of the tasks Israelis and other nations were not capable of performing by themselves. But God gave Israel clear instruction on how to treat those slaves. Don’t mistake slavery under Israeli rule, for slavery under Egyptian rule, or the slavery of blacks under American rule, they were like night and day.
The term slave under Israeli rule in this context is more in line with a hired servant. Those servants were treated fairly, compensated with food and shelter, and allowed to leave at a set amount of years. Some of those servants chose to remain servants under Israeli rule because they had it so good, as opposed to becoming slaves for other more cruel and brutal nations.
Where they were provided what ever amount of food those nations chose to give them, beaten terribly in many cases, worked to exhaustion, never allowed to leave, and even killed in many cases.
In some cases God gave Israel the choice of making some slaves, slaves for life. But only as way to insure those same evil and barbaric tribes and nations were not able to rebuild and pick up where they left off. Eventually doing the same abominable evil acts that caused them to go into slavery in the first place.Preventing the rebirth of the widespread evil was God’s motivation in giving Israel that choice.
But in light of all the evil many of these conquered tribes had done, God still instructed Israel not to treat those slaves harshly and reminded them they were slaves at one time in foreign lands, and to remember how they were treated, and to not treat their servants the same way, but with compassion and fairness.
Exodus 21
New International Version (NIV)
2 “If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything. 3 If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him.
Exodus 23:9
New International Version (NIV)
9 “Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt.
Leviticus 25:45
New International Version (NIV)
45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.
Leviticus 25:53
New International Version (NIV)
53 They are to be treated as workers hired from year to year; you must see to it that those to whom they owe service do not rule over them ruthlessly.
God only instructed nations to conquer other nations when those nations that God had leveled the decree against, were guilty of burning their own children alive as sacrifices to demons they called God’s.Raping the women of other tribes and killing them. They would also take the infants of the peoples they had conquered, grab them by the ankles and dash them against stone walls until their little frail infant bodies disintegrated, all while the parents of those infants watched helplessly
Isaiah 13:16-18
New International Version (NIV)
16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes;
their houses will be looted and their wives violated.
17 See, I will stir up against them the Medes,
who do not care for silver
and have no delight in gold.
18 Their bows will strike down the young men;
they will have no mercy on infants,
nor will they look with compassion on children.
Isaiah 13:16-18 Is an example of God sending the Medes, against Israel, a nation notorious for their barbarism and their lack of compassion for infants and children. As well as sending them against other nations who were regularly engaging in the practice of child sacrifice and who had conquered other nations and showed no mercy to their children.
So God responded in kind, by rendering to them the same punishment for their abominable evil, and payment for what they themselves had done when conquering other nations. God ultimately punished the Medes for their evil and barbarism as well.Above is an example of God sending them against Israel because Israel was eventually corrupted and began to follow the same sick practices of Idol/Demon worship and child sacrifice amongst other wicked practices that the surrounding wicked nations practiced.
Deuteronomy 12:29-31
King James Version (KJV)
29 When the Lord thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
.
Jeremiah 19:4-5
Jeremiah 32:35
“They built the high places of Baal that are in the valley of Ben-hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I had not commanded them nor had it entered My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
Ezekiel 16:20-21
“Moreover, you took your sons and daughters whom you had borne to Me and sacrificed them to idols to be devoured. Were your harlotries so small a matter? “You slaughtered My children and offered them up to idols by causing them to pass through the fire.
Ezekiel 23:37
“For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands. Thus they have committed adultery with their idols and even caused their sons, whom they bore to Me, to pass through the fire to them as food.
2 Kings 17:31
and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim.
Psalm 106:36-42
King James Version (KJV)
36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
40 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
God was greatly angered by this demonic barbarism and instructed Israel and other nations to punish those demonic barbaric nations without mercy,to render to them the same punishment that they themselves had visited on others. As far as I’m concerned they had it coming times twenty. And that is simply the act of a loving, just God, and not the heartless God that you try to portray him as.
I would really be angry if God had done nothing.A God who doesn’t punish that type of evil is the real definition of an uncaring God in my opinion. And God is the giver of life and he can take it when ever he chooses, and all those nations that God leveled that decree against(Israel included) because they eventually began to follow the same sick practices as the nations around them, all had it coming and were guilty of doing things that would make what Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, and Idi Amin did look like acts of kindness by comparison.
I run across Muslims and Homosexuals all the time who try and twist, and distort scripture just like you are doing and take it completely out of context to paint a false picture about God in an effort to discredit God, Christ and Christianity, simply because what it teaches is contrary to and justifiably condemns the lifestyles they live, and false religion they follow. Instruction that rightfully and justifiably forbids certain twisted, filthy, warped self destructive practices and behaviors, that they have become enslaved and shackled by.
And stop twisting Deuteronomy 22:28-29 to make it sound like rape, that verse is in the context of fornication and that is all it means. It’s saying if a man sleeps with a virgin he is not married to, he is to pay her father fifty shekles of silver and then to marry the young lady.
The term rape in the NIV version is in the context of the man sleeping with the young lady without the fathers consent, which is considered rape in their culture.Because the father has complete authority over the daughter. The daughter can’t sleep with a man or marry a man without the fathers consent. To sleep with the daughter without the fathers consent is viewed as rape even if the daughter consented, it would still be viewed as rape in their culture.
It’s essentially like taking the fathers property without his consent.Which would be considered a form of rape and theft. In other words you have no right to her unless the father gives her to you,in marriage that is.But it also applied in the rare case actual rape would occur.Fifty shekles of silver and marriage for life would be considered a very harsh punishment. But the verse is in no way a condoning of rape by God.
It is not in the context of forced sexual relations on a girl, but in the context of consensual sexual relations out of wedlock! And by the way all false prophets and teachers will be punished by being cast into the lake of fire, so please for your sake don’t willfully twist Gods word and lie on him to deceive others and make a point.
2 Peter 2:1-3
King James Version (KJV)
2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not
The Bible is the truth and nothing but the truth that becomes quite evident when you put it in it’s proper context. But when you twist and distort it because of your lack of knowledge and understanding of it, it begins to morph into something that it is not, based on your own lack of understanding and knowledge, and gross biblical misinterpretation and misrepresentation.
