Question: Do You Think It’s A Good Thing To Have World Leaders Being Counseled By Many People, Getting Many Different Perspectives To Help Them In Making Wise Decisions As-Is Emphasized In.. Proverbs 15:22

Donald Bohanon: Yes. But only when that counsel or instruction is applied in its proper context, and the verse is put in its proper context. Proverbs 15:22 is in the context of receiving counsel from many God-fearing, righteous men, who lived by a righteous biblical standard, and who had knowledge and understanding about specific issues.

Only then is the counsel emphasized in Proverbs 15:22 truly effective and productive. Only when the leader is seeking counsel from righteous sources who don’t have a selfish agenda, and who aren’t motivated by greed, lust, personal gain, or other selfish motives, will he truly be guided in the right, beneficial and productive direction. As it relates to the more serious, critical, nation impacting issues.

Obviously it wouldn’t be beneficial or wise to accept counsel from individuals with views that are contrary to the things God views as good, and who are supportive of things God views as very destructive and offensive.

That kind of counsel will in most cases be deceptive in nature because it will be motivated by greed, lust, or other selfish motives. Which will prove costly and disastrous in the end. Let’s not forget the Bible also says blessed is the man who walketh not in the counsel of the wicked and or ungodly…Psalms 1:1 The Bible also says evil communications corrupt good manners or character.. 1 Corinthians 15:33

And certainly entertaining the counsel of false religious figures who are motivated by and given over to the same vices as the ungodly, like greed, lust, and pride, etc, in many respects would be the equivalent of walking in the counsel of the ungodly and the wicked and could prove disastrous as well. Not to mention the tendency of false ministers to grossly misinterpret God’s word, thereby deceiving and leading the ignorant and unlearned (which can include world leaders) astray.

Psalm 1:1
King James Version (KJV)
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

 1 Corinthians 15:33
King James Version (KJV)
33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

In other words, a wise man rejects the counsel of wicked, ungodly men and women, to his benefit. And that wickedness can be defined as anyone, man or woman, who practices or is supportive of very offensive and abominable behaviors, that anger God, and that God detests and finds very offensive.

The righteous man’s words don’t define his righteousness, but his behavior, and what he supports, based on his actions do, as that behavior correlates with God’s word. And conversely, the wicked man’s behavior, and what he supports by deed and action defines or proves his wickedness, as that behavior conflicts with God’s word. Titus 1:16.
