Question: You Mention In One Of Your Q&As That God Doesn’t Operate In Jealousy But In Zephaniah 1:18 It Says The Whole Land Will Be Devoured By The Fire Of His Jealousy. How Do You Explain That?

Donald Bohanon: When you hear God mention the term jealousy in relation to these kinds of destructive events it is simply defined as anger. Not the kind of envy or jealousy many humans harbor towards their fellow human beings or loved ones because of greed or other selfish reasons.

It’s simply referencing God’s anger in this context. Jealousy is a term often used by God and in scripture to define or convey anger in a situation or circumstance. The whole land being devoured by the fire of his jealousy in Zephaniah 1:18  can also read like this  “the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his anger” as well. Because jealousy is a by-product of or catalyst for anger.
