Donald Bohanon: It simply means you are chosen based on how sincerely you respond to the calling. For example, if you are called and never respond to the calling in that you continue in sin living life like you want to, contrary to God’s direction, then you will just be a part of the called group, who are many, but not chosen.
On the other hand, if you are called and respond to the calling sincerely by doing everything God and Christ require of you as it relates to following the commandments and word of God as a whole.
While exercising faith, and practicing good works, bearing spiritual fruit, and overcoming until the end, you are a part of the chosen few. You are chosen based on how sincerely you respond to the calling. That’s what the verse means.
