Donald Bohanon: Those are two totally different circumstances and situations. One is about division that’s based on race and religious ideology. The other is based on separation from perverse sexual behavior that twists and warps the human spirit and leads to abominable evil and rebellion against God and his word.
Not to mention deadly incurable disease. One is about separation from evil corrupting behavior. The other is about separation based on race alone. They’re like night and day. Like fire and water. They cant be compared at all. And are totally different. So the two can’t be compared. Let’s be clear though, the Bible condemns racism, homosexuality, transgenderism, bisexuality, lesbianism and pedophilia, and the hatred of anyone simply based on their religious beliefs. But if the religious belief produces abominable evil and rebellion against God and his word, we have to hate that evil, and separate ourselves from it also.
I don’t hate anyone because of their religious beliefs. I may strongly disagree with their views and the evil those beliefs produce, but I don’t hate them. And in the case of homosexuality we don’t hate the individual but we are commanded to hate the evil that homosexuality is, and its corrupting, destructive effects, for all the obvious reasons. Psalm 97:10, Romans 1:18-32, Romans 1:32, Romans 12:9, 1 Corinthians 15:33.
The Bible and God call for separation from those who practice these things because if not that behavior will eventually spread rapidly and corrupt and pervert those who entertain them. 1 Corinthians 10: 20-22, 2 Corinthians 6: 14-18, 1 Corinthians 15:33 . So the separation in that context, is not based on hate, but a choice to live righteously and follow Gods instruction to ensure we are not ensnared by it, corrupted by it, and destroyed as a result of it.
Embracing homosexuality and other perverse forms of sexual behavior will not lead to a unity that benefits society or the nation as a whole, quite the contrary. But it will instead be a partnership with evil that will lead to the destruction of the nation because of the widespread spiritual, physical, and national corruption, the sexual perversion will produce. And the destructive wrath of God that in turn, will incur, in the judgment and before.
