Statement: First of all no, I am defiantly not a Muslim, I have as many issues if not more with Islam and the Quran then I have with the bible.
If anything I’d have to say I’m a Christian, but I’m sure you’d judge me & say I’m not. I was born into a very strict evangelic home, and I’m happy about that. I accepted Christ into my life at a pretty young age then was baptized in my later teens.
I’m also very analytic, curious and logical person who asks many questions, which suites me well in my career as an engineer.
During my young adulthood I would attend my congregations bible studies & one day decided I would read the bible from start to end and study it myself.
That’s when I started struggling with many verses and passages in the bible. Things that would not jive with my spirit, and my good sense.
First let’s take on “context”.
First Rape:
———
I could maybe give you that one, the scripture never explicitly condoned rape.
But what do you call fornication with the daughter or sister of the man you just killed.
Do you really believe these woman wanted to “fornicate” with the man who just killed their loved ones and burnt their homes.
Why wasn’t God’s commandment not to touch the women. The man who “fornicated” with these woman should have been punished.
Instead The woman is punished and forced to marry the man who killed her loved ones sacked her belongings and “fornicated with her”.
All I’m going to say is that the bible leaves many important unanswered questions & creates ambiguities on this subject, which is VERY dangerous.
Ask most women they would consider this being raped.
Genocide:
———
War is war and I don’t disagrees that the description of what these nations would do was demonic & barbaric.
Verses like you quoted: Psalm 106:36-42
37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
But then then these verses:
Deuteronomy 2:34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain.
Deuteronomy 3:6 And we utterly destroyed them, … utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.
How is it demonic & barbaric to spill innocent blood of their children but justified murder with Gods people genocide children. It’s ok as long as its not in sacrifice for an idol???
Killing children is killing children. I though u said u hated violence. I call it genocide & I hate it, it’s evil and I hope it never happens again in history.
Slavery:
——–
This one is close to my heart. First of all I noticed how you picked and choose what renditions of the bible to pick your verses from.
Which is another point that bothers me about the bibles; How many times it’s be rewritten to fit peoples ideals.
I see you picked the New International Version (which I has also owned) to quote the verses you carefully picked and chose on SLAVERY not servitude!
Let me tell you something you already know. You don’t OWN a servant, you don’t OWN your servant’s children, you don’t BEAT your servant!
Wrong is wrong, evil is evil & taking another humans freedom is abysmal in whatever CONTEXT or time is abysmal.
I don’t care if it’s colonial slavery or not, slavery is slavery!
For the bible not to clearly condemn & state this to me is mind boggling.
There are so many verses on slavery I could quote but I will only quote one from the same version of the bible you used:
Leviticus 25:44-46
“Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.
You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.
You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.
As someone who’s descendants endured the atrocities of slavery I can’t look past this.
I tell you today if anybody ever tries to enslave my family, children, loved ones or myself. I will without hesitation lay my life or take my slavers life fighting from my freedom. And I pray that god would find me just in my decision.
In conclusion,
My point is too many Christians judge others using the scripture which a full of holes and they do so hypocritically.
Saying that putting this verses in context justifies them is extremely dangerous and the reason why people have used the bible and other books to justify their crimes and atrocities.
I’m just a man and I don’t know much. I don’t know the why of many things but got gave me sense and logic so I use it. Please don’t call me a liar I never lied throughout this discussion.
Donald, we could continue this discussion elsewhere if you like. I can’t really have these discussion with people in my congregation as I believe they would immediately judge me and I wouldn’t feel comfortable anymore.
My Response
Donald Bohanon: Here we go again. 1. Rape?: There is nothing to support that statement you are just lying where is the Bible verse? You haven’t provided anything to substantiate what you said and if you do I’m certain you are taking it out of context. Provide the verse and I will put it in its proper context.
I’m certain you are taking it out of context like homosexuals do, often taking one verse or two and completely twisting it and taking it out of context in an effort to paint a false distorted picture of God. Now, there are accounts of rape and fornication in the Bible but God has never condoned either, and as long as you falsely attack God and the Bible I am going to expose your lies.
And yes I will say you are not Christian the truth of the matter is I really think you are a homosexual because they are one of the primary groups that twist God’s words like you are doing now. Being so twisted and evil themselves, yet deceptively play the righteous role like you are doing. “Don’t listen to God and his word!, take heed too and follow me!, because I’m so righteous that I have a love and righteousness that supersedes God’s love and the Bible’s definition of love” is what you are saying in so many words. “God is evil but I am good, humble, righteous, loving, and caring, don’t look to God as a righteous example, look to me” is essentially what you are saying.
But that’s what that filthy perversion does, makes you hate God and righteousness and exalt yourself above God. Which is the very attitude and character of Satan himself. Further confirmation of how powerfully led by Satan, homosexuals, and lesbians are. It’s been my experience that people who do that are some of the most wicked, twisted, perverted individuals on planet earth, and live lives completely contrary to God’s word and what he defines as righteous and good.
Just examine them closely and thoroughly you will see it. And my response to that is to get the heck out of here with that self-righteous hypocrisy, being absolutely filthy but presenting a false image of righteousness, humility, mercy and love. But living completely contrary to God’s law of love, the commandments, and His word.
Which is the only source and standard by which proper moral behavior should be defined or judged. Get the you know what (I almost slipped up and said something else) out of here, with that eeeeeeeevil, self-righteous, hypocrisy.
2. Genocide?: God calls the shots, he is the creator of everything, man and all other creations and life forms, and his actions are always just and good. The brutality and barbarism of these surrounding tribes and nations were simply demonic, and that is not surprising considering the fact they worshiped demons, so much so that they sacrificed their own sons and daughters to demons, they were possessed by devils!
Below is an example of Israel engaging in the practice, something they inherited from other wicked nations who’s customs they eventually adopted. The same nations God sent Israel against because those nations practiced that same behavior. But Israel, to God’s sadness and dismay, began to follow the same practices as is outlined below. So God eventually had to destroy Israel as well to put an end to the practice.
Deuteronomy 12:29-31
King James Version (KJV)
29 When the Lord thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
Jeremiah 19:4-5
Jeremiah 32:35
“They built the high places of Baal that are in the valley of Ben-hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I had not commanded them nor had it entered My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
Ezekiel 16:20-21
“Moreover, you took your sons and daughters whom you had borne to Me and sacrificed them to idols to be devoured. Were your harlotries so small a matter? “You slaughtered My children and offered them up to idols by causing them to pass through the fire.
Ezekiel 23:37
“For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands. Thus they have committed adultery with their idols and even caused their sons, whom they bore to Me, to pass through the fire to them as food.
2 Kings 17:31
and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim.
Psalm 106:35-39
King James Version (KJV)
35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
When you invite devils in they come right in and take total control. This was obvious considering the way these people were behaving, engaging in bestiality (having sex with animals). Sacrificing their own sons and daughters to demons by cutting them open and burning them alive. These people were demon-possessed, they were no longer thinking for themselves, and demons were in full control of them, and that was quite obvious based on the way they were behaving.
Their destruction was justified, turning the cheek in an environment where blood-thirsty barbarians ruled was tantamount to suicide. These crazed individuals showed no mercy to anyone not even infants! God’s decree of an eye for an eye was necessary to prevent the evil from continuing and spreading to the destruction of more infant lives and lives in general. And to punish them for the same evil they had heaped on other peoples and nations. At a time when most of these surrounding nations lived by no laws, evident by their savagery and barbarism.
I doubt you would be so angry and disagreeable if it was your wife being gang-raped, or your infant son or daughter being dashed to pieces, bust wide open, right before your eyes. Or burned alive right before your eyes. And keep in mind this was a regular practice.
Whatever environment a child is raised in, they will grow to be shaped by that environment. Not only was God punishing these wicked tribes for the fact that they had killed infants and children themselves, their own sons and daughters at that, commanding that they should be punished in the same way, an eye for an eye. But he was also destroying a future generation that would have eventually grown up to be as evil and twisted as their fathers and mothers if not more. Elimination of a seed of evil-doers was necessary in God’s eyes.
And if you think those children wouldn’t have grown up to be products of their environments, knowing nothing but what they had been taught by their parents,… ruthlessness, barbarism, mass murder, Satan worship, child sacrifice, bestiality, etc. Brutal, barbaric and ruthless, you are just clueless and fooling yourself. And these acts were so prevalent and widespread that they eventually corrupted Israel and Israel began to follow the same practices. All of it was evil and barbaric and God punished all of them to put an end to the steady growth and progression of the evil, and he was justified in doing so. It was an act of love in every sense of the word when you understand what he actually prevented, in terms of future child sacrifice, mass murder, gang rape, savagery, bloodshed, and barbarism.
3. Slavery?: I haven’t picked and chosen verses, the Bible is consistent with its description in terms of the way those servants were to be treated, fairly and with compassion, there you go again twisting scripture taking verses out of context, and lying on God. God even informed Israel if they were to beat a servant and break bones or harm them that servant was to be compensated or set free.
Even though those nations had ruled over their slaves and Israelites ruthlessly…Exodus 1:13-14. God instructed Israel not to rule over them ruthlessly or with rigor. In the case of some cruel and brutal nations who ruled over their slaves without an ounce of compassion God instructed Israel they could make them slaves for life if they so chose.A just and righteous decree in my opinion considering how treacherously and heartlessly those barbaric tribes dealt with nations.
God knew if he allowed them to go free and rebuild they would pick up right where they left off, engaging in the same ruthlessness and brutality which included sacrificing and killing their own sons and daughters, and destroying and pillaging other nations and countries motivated by nothing but evil, greed and lust, something which God was trying to prevent. But God still instructed Israel not to rule over them with rigor.
Exodus 23:9
King James Version (KJV)
9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Leviticus 25:43
King James Version (KJV)
43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God.
So what Bible are you reading? You are obviously twisting the Bible again and taking it out of context, provide the verse and I will put it in its proper context. And here are the same verses below in the King James version what’s the difference? It is saying the same thing I only provided the NIV version because I knew it would be easier to interpret for those who are not familiar with the King James version. The NIV version is a translation into plain English not an altering of scripture, there is no difference in the meaning. Don’t try to paint a false picture to ignorant onlookers, that it is somehow different, it is not, it is just a translation not an altering of the verse.
Exodus 21:2
King James Version (KJV)
2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
Exodus 23:9
King James Version (KJV)
9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger,
seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Leviticus 25:45
King James Version (KJV)
45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them
shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.
Leviticus 25:53
King James Version (KJV)
53 And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight.
I felt it important to address this man’s blatant lies, and gross distortions. misinterpretations and misrepresentations of scripture. He is displaying all the characteristics of someone who is homosexual or bisexual and simply seeks to discredit God and his word, through lies and distortions of his word.
Because they hate it because it condemns the physically and spiritually destructive behavior they love and are shackled by. They seek to exalt themselves above God and his word as a true righteous example, while being absolutely evil, filthy, and perverse and living completely contrary to God’s word. Many examples of twisted homosexual behavior rarely reported by the liberal mainstream prove how sick and demented they are, twisted and rendered deranged by perverted lust.
This is what they normally do and after they have drawn others into that physically and spiritually destructive lifestyle through lies, deception, false information, and false science, in an effort to further their twisted agenda, for the full acceptance of the perverse lifestyle. Now, he may claim he is not homosexual or bisexual, but that is something they do also, twist God’s word and claim to be straight, but everything that he is doing is consistent with what homosexuals/bisexuals do all the time. His lies and gross distortions of God’s word have hate for God, and pro-homosexual or practicing homosexual/bisexual written all over it.
Romans 1:26-32
Romans 1:30
King James Version (KJV)
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
You sound ridiculous claiming to be a Christian rejecting the very word of God. True Christians strive to live by every word of God, not reject its validity and authority. How can you be a Christian but hate the very word of God itself which is for man’s benefit, not to hurt him? You lie on God and twist his word to create a false image of him? That is not an example of a Christian or love for God, but clear and obvious hate for God.
Matthew 4:4
King James Version (KJV)
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Luke 4:4
King James Version (KJV)
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
I have no desire to communicate with you in any other capacity either. I really see right through you. And two men cant walk together unless they be agreed.
Amos 3:3
King James Version (KJV)
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Luke 6:46
King James Version (KJV)
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
We don’t have anything in common why would I want to speak to you in a different setting or elsewhere? It will never happen. I’m convinced you are motivated by perverted sexual lust as opposed to sincerely seeking the truth. You lie on God and twist his word and make him out to be something that he is not, while at the same time subtly exalting yourself, tooting your own horn as a true righteous example, separate from the Bible’s definition of righteousness. Which is ridiculous, evil, self-righteous, proud, satanic, and contrary to scripture.
We have nothing in common I have no interest in getting to know you in any capacity under any circumstances, or on any level. You lie and slander God and twist and distort his word? You are not a Christian you are an enemy of God, evidenced by your hate for his word and your tendency to quickly twist and distort it to present a flawed, distorted perception of God and his word.
John 14:23-24
King James Version (KJV)
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
2 Corinthians 6:15-17
New International Version (NIV)
15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belia? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”
17 Therefore,
“Come out from them
and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”
1 John 3:10
King James Version (KJV)
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
I don’t hate you though, and I wish you the best of luck, we are simply going in completely different directions and have nothing in common. You are lake of fire bound with that evil, slanderous, deceptive attitude.
You seek to establish your own self-righteousness separate from how the Bible defines righteousness, which is like filthy rags to God for all the obvious reasons. I seek God’s righteousness that comes only by faith, reading and obeying the commandments and word of God, and acknowledging him as supreme ruler and authority, who knows, sees, and understands, much more than man will ever know in a million lifetimes.
I actually feel sorry for you because I know your fate if you don’t change that behavior. And by the way, the Bible has always encouraged the righteous to judge but in righteousness. This means the person who is judging must be righteous themselves. Judging is an important part of the Christian faith because it is meant primarily to expose evil for what it is before it spreads to the destruction of multiple millions of clueless, conforming followers. And the Bible is not full of holes, nor does it contradict itself, men simply intentionally or mistakenly grossly misinterpret it much like you are doing now.
Because of either their hate for it because it exposes and condemns behavior they love and practice which is contrary to the Bible. Or because of their lack of knowledge and understanding of it. Also lacking the understanding of the importance of allowing it to interpret itself, but rather apply their own personal interpretation to it, which screws it up, distorts it, and leads to gross biblical misinterpretation every time. Something you have clearly exhibited yourself today,as it relates to many of your ignorant ill-informed statements. But all the best to you. I will pray for you.
John 7:24
King James Version (KJV)
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Ephesians 5:10-11
New International Version (NIV)
10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
