Is Political Corruption Deeply Interwoven Into Every Facet Of American Government? Isaiah 1:5-7

The verses in Isaiah 1: 5-7 are describing the spiritual/moral condition of America. As well as the resulting punishment that’s coming if they don’t repent which is emphasized in verse seven.

The reference to the heart being faint is God talking about how perverse and corrupted the moral foundation of the nation is and how fearful and cowardly the nation is in regards to doing the right thing as it relates to standing for justice, morality, (as God defines morality, not men and women) and following the right path.

The reference to the head being sick is speaking about the federal government and how morally corrupt it is. The reference to the soles of the feet is speaking about the lowest levels of government and the ghettos and how they are equally as immoral and corrupt.

The reference to putrifying sores, wounds, and bruises not being closed, bound up, or mollified with ointment is in relation to the rancid, detestable, immoral condition of the nation that has not been addressed or corrected.

God referring to them as Sodom and Gomorrah in verse ten is how God views them from a moral and or spiritual perspective. God likens America to modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah as it relates to their debased immoral behavior. That interpretation is further supported by Isaiah 3:9-12. These verses are speaking in a spiritual/moral context.

⁵ Why should ye be stricken anymore? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

⁶ From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

⁷ Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
