Q&A: Can You Define What A Chosen One Really Means?

Question: Can You Define What A Chosen One Really Means?

Donald Bohanon: A chosen one is a person who is called by God and who has answered the call by changing his or her life and behavior to fall in line with everything God commands in terms of righteousness/ proper moral behavior. This person transforms their life and behavior to mirror and or reflect everything that God commands them to do in his word.

They strive to follow his ten commandments and word on a daily basis and produce spiritual fruit, obedience and faith being just some of those fruits. 1 Timothy 6:9-11, John 14:20-24, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4. Chosen ones are not defined by how much money or success they have in life but by following everything they are commanded to do in Gods word.

There is a very dangerous precedent that’s being set in society today, and on many social media platforms, that a chosen one is a person who has acquired much wealth and success, and that’s it. And although wealth and success is a part of the lives of some of the elect/chosen, as God determines it, it’s not the primary determining factor, in fact, it’s far, far, from it.

But righteousness and obedience are the true determining factors. The unbiblical notion that the chosen are determined by wealth and success alone is dangerous because it does not take behavior and godly character into consideration. There are some people claiming to be chosen while living in open defiance and abominable rebellion against God and his word.

Nothing could be further from the truth and they are only deceiving themselves. That way of thinking is referred to in scripture as a reprobate mind. A state of mind where the person begins to think that evil behavior that conflicts with God’s word, is good. And good behavior that is supported by Gods word, is evil. That is a very deadly and very dangerous place and mindset to be in. Romans 1:26-32, Romans 1:32.

When behavior and godly character is the only thing that really determines if the person is really a chosen one or not. In fact, prosperity, notoriety, and success, are really irrelevant when trying to determine these things. We are commanded by scripture to flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, etc, first… 1 Timothy 6:9-11.

Many great Bible patriarchs were poor, including Jesus Christ, John the baptist, Elijah the prophet, Moses, just to name a few, they were all poor but rich in spirit and are considered to be some of the greatest biblical patriarchs that ever lived. Christ being first and foremost, obviously.

We are commanded to seek first the kingdom and his, Gods righteousness first, and everything else will be added unto us in accordance with Gods will first and foremost, though.

Although material blessings are promised to those who seek the kingdom and his ( Gods righteousness) righteousness first (material blessings don’t necessarily equate to insane wealth because that is just not healthy for most people. Because it can and will corrupt them if they’re not spiritually grounded and strong enough to receive it. It really only means being financially stable and being able to afford much of what you desire) it should never be the focal point when trying to determine if a person is chosen or not. Only righteousness and godliness that can only be defined by living in accordance with Gods ten commandments and word should be the focal point. Everything else is secondary.

Matthew 4:4 King James Version

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matthew 6:33 King James Version

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Luke 4:4 King James Version

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

John 14:20-24 King James Version

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

1 Timothy 6:9-11 King James Version

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
