How Does The Bible Define Godly Love?

 

 

Many self proclaimed ministers teach that  love can be defined as keeping silent in the face growing evil and accepting and embracing any form or type of evil or behavior with open arms, and call it love and tolerance without any rebuke even if the behavior is contradictory to the Bible. Many of these minsters claim that anyone who does vocally condemn  evil and evil practices  and  who do not accept or embrace evil, perverse alternative lifestyles, and call it love, do not have the love of  God in them.

 

But is that accurate?  Is the love of God based on complete acceptance of perverse behaviors and lifestyles that result in suffering, mental anguish, and physical death in this life,  and spiritual death when judged, while calling it love? Romans 1:32 .

 

The term Godly love can be defined as a complete love for God and all that he represents. Complete allegiance and obedience to God expressed by complete adherence to his word and his commandments. To love God above all else, which is the first and most important commandment. And that love really  is summed up by keeping  the commandments and the word of God as a whole. Which actually involves doing what his word says. And loving your fellow man as you love yourself, which is the second most important commandment. And in that context  Godly love is summed  up as  complete obedience to the  commandments,  and word of God as whole.

What Godly Love Is

Did you know the Bible emphasizes over and over the necessity for rebuking evil and applying righteous judgement to all things and situations, to expose evil for what it really is?

 

1. Godly Love  rebukes evil.

2. Godly Love is sharing.

3. Godly Love is correcting.

4. Godly Love  judges in righteousness. Leviticus 19:15, John 7:24

5. Godly Love is patient and longsuffering.  Ephesians 5:22-23.

6. Godly Love self scrutinizes

7. Godly Love is unselfish.

8. Godly Love gives without an ulterior motive.  Luke 6:34-35.

9. Godly Love is thoughtful.

10. Godly Love speaks the truth in an atmosphere of lies and deception. Proverbs 12:17,22

11. Godly Love exposes evil for what is. Ephesians 5:10-13

12. Godly Love hates evil. Psalms 97:10

13. Godly Love loves righteousness.

14. Godly Love helps,assists, supports, and funds, God’s work,  righteousness and righteous works.

15. Godly Love is fearing God.

16. Godly Love doesn’t repay evil  with evil but overcomes evil with good, and exposes evil with truth.

 17. Godly Love warns the wicked and ungodly of the consequences for their evil.

18. Godly love is fulfilling or obeying the commandments and Bible as a whole. Romans 13:10

 

 

What Godly Love Is Not.

1. Godly Love does not compromise with evil. 

2. Godly Love never embraces evil and perversion. Isaiah 5:20-25, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18,

3. Godly  Love is not accepting  of views that are contrary to God’s word.

4. Godly Love does not keep silent in the face of evil.  Ephesians 5:10-13. 2Timothy 4:2-4

5. Godly Love does not justify evil. Proverbs 17:15.

6. Godly Love  does not have respect of persons when judging. Proverbs 28:21.

7. Godly  Love does not show favor based on ones worldly status. Proverbs 28:21.

8. Godly Love does not call evil good and good evil. Isaiah 5:20-25.

9. Godly Love does not question the existence of  God. Psalms 14:1-3, Psalms 53:1-3

10. Godly Love does not seek to justify perverse ungodly behavior.  Proverbs 17:15, Ezekiel 22:26, Isaiah 5:20-25, Romans 1:21-25

11. Godly Love does not side with the wicked against the righteous.  Proverbs 17:15

12. Godly Love does not fight against the truth.

13. Godly Love does not call the righteous wicked and the wicked righteous. Ezekiel 22:26, Isaiah 5:20-25, Romans 1:21-25

14. Godly Love does not twist Gods word to justify ungodly wicked behavior. Proverbs 17:15

15. Godly Love does not deny the existence of God who is love. Psalms 14:1-3, Psalms 53:1-3.

16. Godly Love does not fellowship with evil.  2Corinthians 6:14-18.

17. Godly Love does not  tell the wicked that they wont be held accountable for their wickedness. Proverbs 11:19, Proverbs 11: 21,Isaiah 3:9-12.
