The announcement from the White House led to widespread market panic and falling bond values, which led to\u00a0Trump enacting a 90-day pause\u00a0on April 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said early Friday that the pause could be extended to Labor Day &#8211; and that country-by-country tariffs could be negotiated down in that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hours later, Trump echoed a similar sentiment.
