WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) – Kim Jong Un\u2019s health appears could be more serious than initially believed, according to reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Reports emerged earlier this week that Kim was gravely ill following heart surgery, although that has since been disputed. However, Japanese media now claims that Kim is in a vegetative state following a stent procedure.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Japanese magazine Shukan Gendai reported that Kim collapsed during a visit to a rural area in April. Kim reportedly required a stent procedure following the incident.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shukan Gendai subsequently detailed how the surgeon in charge of Kim\u2019s operation was not used to dealing with obese patients and was too nervous during the operation, leading to delays that left Kim in a \u201cvegetative state.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The magazine cited an unnamed member of Kim\u2019s medical team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Reuters reported Friday that China had dispatched a team that included medical experts to North Korea following conflicting reports regarding Kim\u2019s health.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Chinese Communist Party\u2019s International Liaison Department departed for North Korea on Thursday. Those involved are keeping quiet about the nature of the trip, and even the sources that reported on the trip are keeping quiet regarding what it means for Kim\u2019s current state.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

South Korean government officials initially reported on Tuesday that Kim was handling state affairs as usual, and that the government showed \u201cno unusual activity\u201d following rumors of Kim\u2019s poor health. South Korea\u2019s Yonhap News Agency, in response to the reports, said \u201cit\u2019s not true\u201d and there was \u201cno specific trend.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. John Hyten said he has \u201cno reason not to assume\u201d that Kim Jong Un is still in control of the country. White House officials confirmed to Fox News that they were monitoring the situation, but confirmed nothing further.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Thursday President Trump said he thought the report Kim was ill was “incorrect.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hearing they used old documents,\u201d Trump said when asked about Kim during the White House\u2019s daily coronavirus press briefing. \u201cI hear the report was an incorrect report. I hope it was an incorrect report.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
