Facebook is under fire for publishing a stomach-churning survey that asked users whether pedophiles should be allowed to solicit \u201csexual pictures\u201d from underage girls.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cringeworthy poll surfaced at the top of Facebook\u2019s home page for an unspecified number of users this past weekend, according to a report.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn thinking about an ideal world where you could set Facebook\u2019s policies, how would you handle the following: a private message in which an adult man asks a 14-year-old girl for sexual pictures,\u201d one question in the survey reads.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The disgusting multiple-choice poll gave users the option to condone the sick behavior, allowing them to vote that the \u201ccontent should be allowed on Facebook, and I would not mind seeing it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another possible, nausea-inducing response was that \u201cthe content should be allowed on Facebook, but I don\u2019t want to see it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The twisted survey was spotted by an editor at the Guardian, who published screenshots of it\u00a0on Twitter<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI[s] making it secret the best Facebook can offer here?\u201d Jonathan Haynes wrote as he tweeted out the \u201cI don\u2019t want to see it\u201d response in the poll. \u201cNot, y\u2019know, calling the police?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yet another bone-headed question asked users who should decide whether pedophilic content was allowed on Facebook \u2014 users, Facebook and users, just Facebook or an outside entity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Monday, the social networking giant headed by Mark Zuckerberg admitted that it was a \u201cmistake\u201d to publish the survey, which appeared to suggest that Facebook execs were openly debating whether to allow pedophiles on the site.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWe run surveys to understand how the community thinks about how we set policies,\u201d Facebook vice president Guy Rosen said in response to Haynes\u2019 tweet. \u201cBut this kind of activity is and will always be completely unacceptable on FB.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In a statement to The Post, Facebook said the survey has been taken down since it refers to \u201coffensive content that is already prohibited on Facebook and that [they] have no intention of allowing.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have prohibited child grooming on Facebook since our earliest days, we have no intention of changing this, and we regularly work with the police to ensure that anyone found acting in such a way is brought to justice,\u201d Facebook said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time that the Palo Alto, Calif., company has found itself in hot water regarding pedophilia on its platform.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2015,\u00a0The Post\u2019s John Crudele<\/a>\u00a0asked Facebook to take down a pedophilia-friendly page on its network \u2014 but the company said it couldn\u2019t because it didn\u2019t violate its terms of service. After one user started a boycott of Facebook advertisers, the company relented.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Facebook then signed a deal with the NY attorney general promising to help develop software to detect the problem, Crudele reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n
